Allow staff to edit record buckets in the PAC through the My Lists (bookbags) interface (and vice versa)

7

All record buckets associated with a staff client login should be found in the My Lists section when that login is used to login to the PAC.

The user should be able to make these buckets public or private from either interface. (This would require the addition of a "make public / make private" toggle to the "bucket actions" dropdown in the staff client.) Read more »

Public bookbag usage stats

7

I'm not sure if this is already possible or not, so I guess this is part question and part development idea.

Our staff creates a lot of public bookbags as readers advisory tools - Teen vampire books, John Grisham read-a-likes, etc. - and then integrates them into our website.  This takes a lot of work, so we'd like to be able to evaluate whether or not patron use justifies the staff investment.  Usage stats could also potentially indicate which lists are most popular, which could then guide the creation of additional lists. Create a printer-friendly version of a My List

2

Our staff creates bookbags for different things, including new items.  It would be helpful to them if there was a print-version of each bookbag, that let them click a button and see their bookbag without any of the catalog navigation, facets, etc - just a list of items with cover image, title, summary, and maybe local call number, and perhaps library logo and name of bookbag.  They could then print it as a simple sign to promote the list to people within the library, or copy/paste into Word to make a nicer sign with far less editing that currently. Move/Copy Titles between lists

14

In the public catalog, you can select titles from a temporary list and move them to one of their permanent lists, but the option to Move  doesn't appear on the menu when you select items from a permanent bookbag.  This makes it cumbersome to move items from a wish list to a recommened list, for example.  Ideally, you'd have a way to either move titles from the current list to Read more »

Making Temporary Lists Permanent

6

If you search the catalog without being logged in to your personal account, you can add items to a temporary list and then log in so you can take some sort of action on them (placing batch holds, for example). You then have a list called "Temporary List" but there is no way to easily turn that list into a permanent list. You can move the items to one of your existing lists (if you have any), or you can create a new list the usual way, but not with the items you just pulled together. Read more »

Option to hide the facet sidebar and other baggage in shared bookbags to improve embedding

1

It would be nice if we had the option to just show the results-page and to hide the facet_sidebar in the catalog. This would make for much more attractive embedded bookbags. What I am imagining is that you would add something to the query string, giving a URL like https://bark.cwmars.org/eg/opac/results?bookbag=16224&embed=true and that this would give you just the list and the list navigation without the headers, footers, sidebars, or search forms.

Change (fix?) how shared bookbags work

2

We noticed the shared bookbags we've created as suggested reading lists for patrons don't act like we'd expect them to.  We've created a lot of these and link to them from our website.  One example is https://chelmsford.mvlc.org/eg/opac/results?bookbag=53516;page=0;locg=18... - it starts with (currently) 51 items, but if a patron sorts by author, title, etc, the total drops to 33.

It seems like the act of sorting eliminates any items we don't own from the list. Read more »

Non-Evergreen Items in My Lists

5

"My Lists" are based on bringing together bibliographic records that are currently in the catalog. Staff and patrons should also be able to add "temp" records to lists for titles that are not (yet) cataloged. These could be, for example, pre-pub titles that nobody owns or has on order yet, and the "temp" record could act as a placeholder until a bib record is available. The temp record should be able to execute a search if you choose, or even perhaps automatically, to alert the list owner when it matches a real record in the system.

Improvements to the display of public bookbags

4

Currently a user has no control over the format and layout for their shared lists. The default stylesheet looks very much like a catalog search page, with facets at the side and searchbox at the top, etc.  For some purposes, this might be appropriate, but it makes a pretty cluttered display if you're looking at this as a way to present a list of selected books.
