Claims Returned Receipt

When an item is marked Claims Returned, it would be helpful to be able to trigger a configurable receipt (presumably through the Action Trigger Notifications interface) that we could give to the patron that explains our policy.

Option to copy notifications to Patron Message Center

We would like an option to add copies of certain types of notifications to the Patron Message Center at the same time they are emailed out. This would partially assist with the problem of emails getting lost in spam filters, particularly for patrons who use certain email services that are notorious for not allowing our emails through (ahem, AOL).

I would like to see it as an option on the Notifications/Action Triggers screen for each type of notification.

Notification of Online Payments for Billed Items

If a patron pays for a billed item in person at a library, the staff can record the item that was paid for and send a reciept to cataloging to have the item reordered. If a patron instead pays for the lost/billed item through their account online, no notifications are sent to inform library staff that the item is permanently out of circulation and not going to be returned. If these paid items could be documented in a list and a report sent to library staff so we can know which items to reorder that would be helpful.

Automatic notification of orphaned holds

Patrons should be notified if a hold becomes orphaned, i.e. there are no longer any items on the record which could someday fill the hold. A hold can be orphaned when items on the record are marked as lost, missing, reference, or any other non-holdable status, as well as when items are deleted.

Frequent library users may not want to receive notifications for holds that are ready, but may still want to be notified of orphaned holds, so it should be possible to subscribe to this type of notification but not the other. Read more »

Make email notifications customizable like receipts

I'm sure this is much harder than I think, but would it be possible to make all email notifications locally-customizable, like receipts are?  That way, libraries could easily customize the message sent out for hold notifications, return warnings, etc, instead of all libraries having to share the same template.

Patron notification for approaching account expiration

 It would be great if the system gave patrons an advance warning about their accounts expiring and explained in commonplace language what that meant and how to remedy. Notifications should be sent by email, but might also appear when patrons log into their accounts or on a checkout receipt.
