Allow users to open search results in new tabs

14
I'd like to be able to open item record pages from a search into a new Evergreen tab. Often in a search I have several items from a page of results that I want to compare, or just be able to view them concurrently. As it is, the only way I've found to do this is to run the same search in multiple tabs, which is time-consuming and unwieldy.

Add "switch to Preferred" quick feature for seach limiting

This suggestion might highlight the depths of my laziness, but it occurred to me tonight that it would be nice to have a quick way to switch between just my library and the entire consortium when searching (which is something I do constantly throughout the day). Read more »

Add "Items per Page" section to search results

7

I think this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find the previous idea.

I know patrons can set in their account how many items they'd like to appear on their search results page, but a patron asked that we also add this functionality to the non-logged-in search results page. Read more »

Carry through and display search settings on screens in the hold process

When I'm searching the catalog - say for the summer reading book Wonder - I'll set Type=Title, Format=All Books, Library=Chelmsford Main in the basic search boxes.  Of course they're all checked out, so I'll place the patron on hold for it. Read more »

Allow the top level org unit to be placed near any other org unit

1

Example of this would be to have C/W MARS near Williamstown so they don't have to scroll up to the top of the list to get to C/W MARS.  This is an issue with a long list of org units when one is searching in the OPAC and doing a variety of searches.

Search functionality for providers, funds, EDI accounts and EDI messages

2

This could be created as a new search or added to the functionality of the existing search function.  Create search functionality for Providers, Funds, EDI Accounts, and EDI Messages to General Search or create a new "Admin Search" for those records that is similar to how searching works in General Search

Easy way to search for videos with captions, subtitles, or other content for the deaf and hard of hearing

5

It is currently possible to find some of these materials by doing a keyword search, but only if the user can anticipate every way in which this might have been described on the record. It would be great if there were a check box or drop down that would make it easier to find these materials, without the user having to understand how they were cataloged.

(This page from Evergreen Indiana shows some of the many ways this information might appear on a record.)

Improved "No Results" page with library contact information

11

I've never really liked Evergreen's "no results" catalog page, because it's such a dead end.  However, I heard the next version of Evergreen will be able to link holdings to library websites, to easily look up hours, directions, etc.  So I thought, since those links will be in there already, it would be great to add it to the "no results" page to give patrons an out if they're having trouble with their search.
