Add ability to view all active holds on a system level to the Holds Manager

Right now we can filter by branch, but not by system.  Branched libraries are requesting the means to view all system holds at once.

Flow control for holds

I'm merging two previously-submitted ideas into one that allows users to control the flow of their holds. 

The previously-mentioned use cases are below:

 

- The ability to maintain a Netflix-style queue where patrons can control the order in which a batch of holds is received. The order could be based on the sequence of a series or a sequence determine by the user.

- The ability to control how many books / DVDs, etc. the patron receives at one time so that all of their holds don't arrive at once.  Read more »

Alert Message or Note Display on Hold Slip

The library would like a way to put an alert message on the hold slip (item going to holds shelf) alerting staff to special requests made by the patron, for example Don't leave phone message with husband. There does not appear to be a field for this display on the slip. This is an alert to display on all Holds placed for a specific patron and therefore the Hold Note is not a good option for this need.

keep limited holds history for when patrons claim not to have an item belonging to another library

I know this probably breaks with confidentiality etiquette, but it would be helpful to keep a little bit of holds history on bib records that we could access.

Provide a way for hold notifications to be updated when patron information is updated

The hold notification options for phone, email, and SMS (if enabled) are stored in each individual hold. When a patron's record or hold notification preferences are updated, notifications stored in existing holds are not changed. Consequently, some holds may be storing invalid notification data.

It would be useful to have a mechanism to warn the user or staff member that holds exist and may need updating, or to have a process to selectively update the holds automatically.

Circulation - Text Messaging Set Up Indicator for Holds

As an e-mail address is already indicated at the patron account masthead, I would like to suggest that a simple indicator be placed in the same location indicating a patron has decided to be notified of waiting holds and due date reminders via text messaging. It would help reassure staff that patrons are receiving their notices and patrons that there getting notices before items are late or items are returned to the owning libraries.

Hold routing in case of closure

If a library is going to be closed (emergency closure, scheduled renovations, etc.) – we'd like a way to either route all holds that are to be picked up at that branch to a different branch, or an option to suspend holds that are to be picked up at that branch until after closure is finished.

Related – if a library shuts down, be able to control where new pickup location will be.

Holds on missing items

If an item has a hold on it and gets marked Missing, it should immediately retarget the hold.

If it is the last copy so cannot retarget the hold, it should cancel the hold and notify the patron.
