Claims Returned Receipt

3

When an item is marked Claims Returned, it would be helpful to be able to trigger a configurable receipt (presumably through the Action Trigger Notifications interface) that we could give to the patron that explains our policy.

Circulation - Recognize State Identification Barcodes

1

Why can't we use patron state license and identification barcodes in the ILS to identify someone?

November 4th 2013 In a report to the MBLC The Buyer Focus Group released by Kress & Associates indicated that there was a great desire by Massachusetts residents to have a state wide library card. This library card would allow any legal resident to check out items from any particpating library within Massachusetts. Nothing has been done since to move in this direction. Read more »

Items out total

1

When an item is marked "Claims Returned" it still shows up in the Items out total in the patron info portion of the screen. This gets confusing when a patron doesn't have any items actually checked out. Is there a way to remove this from the total?

Create an Address "Invalidate" Button

11

The buttons that allow us quickly mark an email address or phone number as "Invalid" are really useful. A similar button to show that an address was invalid would save a huge amount of time and would help cut down on the number of Alert Messages. I type individual Alerts about updating mailing addresses for patrons at least 3 times a day, and sometimes many more!

Discard/Weed Workflow Improvements

4

When either weeding or finding individual items that should be removed from the collection, circulation staff need an easy and efficient way to mark items for discard/weed so that they can be sent to cataloging staff for further resolution. Currently, only staff with cataloging permissions can change an item status to discard/weed. Read more »

Damaged Items - Workflow Improvements

2

When a returned item is damaged, staff would like an easy option to charge the patron for the damage at time of check in. Staff would mark the item damaged and be given the three options of no charge, charge a variable amount in free text, or full item price and processing fee. Taking this action would also mark the item as damaged, making it invisible in OPAC searches and not holdable. When staff chooses the option to charge full price, if a price is entered in item attributes, either a default price or a price assigned at cataloging, the price is shown to staff but cannot be edited. New Receipt for Pre-Cats

8

When pre-cats are checked in, they give a pop-up message indicating the item should be fixed - it would be even better for our workflow if it would print out a routing slip / receipt so that it could be slipped in the book and sent to cataloging for cleanup.

Pre-Cats: Add another field to store call number

3

The pre-cat function currently has a field for ISBN, but that's not particularly useful for PINES libraries and our staff are instructed to put the item call number (assuming it exists) into that field.

We'd like to add a Call Number input field there to store it. One problem to watch out for is that the current functionality may be storing "UNCATALOGED" in the call number field.

Patron Search default field - customizable

0

Right now, when the “Patron Search” option is selected, the cursor defaults to the “Last Name” box. However, more often than not, the search is being performed using the patron’s library card and the bar code needs to be scanned in. Read more »
