Set default numeric search type

6

For catalogers, it would be helpful to have a default entry on Numeric Search that can be set in Workstation Settings so that they can go straight to searching by TCN, Call Number, or Barcode rather than just ISBN.

Rename buckets

15

Once created, bucket names are currently static.  Staff would like to be able to update the names to reflect updated contents on occasion.

Improved copy template management system

22

This idea is a combination of three previously-submitted MassLNC ideas and is something that has been discussed in the comments for a few years.

The idea is to create a new copy template management system that makes it easier for users to create, edit, use, rename, and share copy templates. The specific improvements mentioned in different ideas are:

Editable Copy Notes

Copy notes currently may only be created and deleted, not edited.  It would be helpful to be able to revisit an existing note with updates.

Volume/Copy Templates: Rename/Sort/Find

1

Three suggestions in one:

  1. An easier way to rename volume/copy templates instead of
    > Apply
    > Save
    > Name
    > Choose the old one
    > Delete
  2. A more streamlined way of sorting templates. (Currently, template sorting is case-sensitive [“Name” before “name”] and favors punctuation over nothing [“Name – Example” before “Name”].
  3. Ability to key up and down when template field is highlighted instead of choosing from drop-down menu every time.

MARC Batch Edit

3

Millennium had a feature called rapid update for bibliographic records which allowed a cataloger to put a group of MARC records into a file and add, delete or edit a MARC field using terms and an interface friendly to catalogers (not regular expressions).

With th existing feature, MARC Batch Edit, you have to replace the entire field not just a substring.  For instance, we want ot replace URI in the 856 and strip out the EZ-Proxy prefix.

Sort Magazines

11

Currently, magazines/serials are sorted alphanumerically in the catalog by library-entered call number - for popular titles, this can amount to hundreds of issues across a consortium categorized in a less-than-ideal way. Have Evergreen sort titles chronologically by YYYY-MM-DD according to the "Date Created", "Date Active", "Issuance Label", "Date Published", or "Date Expected" fields.

Enter ISBN into ISBN field in Item Status

10

In item status, we would like to add our own ISBN to the ISBN box provided so that our items would be accurate. When we are replacing items or patrons are paying for them, this enhancement  would be very helpful in distinguishing the correct copy (hardcover or paperback) for replacement or payment.

Ability to do batch call number updates from copy buckets

8

This was originally part of the idea submitted at http://masslnc.org/node/2961. I'm separating it out so that people have an opportunity to show support for each distinct idea.

Currently, you can only do batch item attribute updates from a copy bucket. This request is to allow users to perform batch call number updates from a copy bucket too.

When importing from a file in Item Status, give an "ignore all" option for the Not Cataloged pop-up.

11

Sometimes I scan a bunch of item barcodes with a wireless barcode reader where I know or don't care that some of those items won't be in the catalog (like a stack of partially weeded books that I forgot about).  But when I upload the barcodes into Item Status, I have to Alt+O through a bunch of nuisance "Not Cataloged" windows that bring the upload to a halt.

It would be nice if those popups could be suppressed in this circumstance.
