Sort Magazines

1

Currently, magazines/serials are sorted alphanumerically in the catalog by library-entered call number - for popular titles, this can amount to hundreds of issues across a consortium categorized in a less-than-ideal way. Have Evergreen sort titles chronologically by YYYY-MM-DD according to the "Date Created", "Date Active", "Issuance Label", "Date Published", or "Date Expected" fields.

Enter ISBN into ISBN field in Item Status

7

In item status, we would like to add our own ISBN to the ISBN box provided so that our items would be accurate. When we are replacing items or patrons are paying for them, this enhancement  would be very helpful in distinguishing the correct copy (hardcover or paperback) for replacement or payment.

Ability to do batch call number updates from copy buckets

5

This was originally part of the idea submitted at http://masslnc.org/node/2961. I'm separating it out so that people have an opportunity to show support for each distinct idea.

Currently, you can only do batch item attribute updates from a copy bucket. This request is to allow users to perform batch call number updates from a copy bucket too.

When importing from a file in Item Status, give an "ignore all" option for the Not Cataloged pop-up.

11

Sometimes I scan a bunch of item barcodes with a wireless barcode reader where I know or don't care that some of those items won't be in the catalog (like a stack of partially weeded books that I forgot about).  But when I upload the barcodes into Item Status, I have to Alt+O through a bunch of nuisance "Not Cataloged" windows that bring the upload to a halt.

It would be nice if those popups could be suppressed in this circumstance.

Spine Label Information

2

On the Spine Lables page (easily accessed by right clicking on an item [in Item Status or Holidings Maintenance] and choosing "Print Spine Labels"), there are many choices for customizing the information included on the Pocket Label, but no control for customizing the information on the Spine Label.

It would be helpful to have check-boxes in the Spine Label section to include/disclude (at least) the following information:

CN Prefix
CN Suffix
Part

Custom: [ __________________ ] Read more »

Check for Existing Holdings when adding a copy

2

I was wondering if it would be possible to have some kind of alert on a marc record that would show that you already have an item attached to that record. Right now, you have to go to Holdings Maintenance to check, an extra step.

The alert could be similar to OCLC which says your library already has a copy of this, maybe something in red in the record summary bar.

Unified editor shouldn't always delete volumes

Tags:
6

If you create an "on order" record with a temporary call number and then, upon receiving the item, replace the call number, Evergreen will delete the previous call number record and create a new one rather than just update the existing call number record. This behavior only occurs for catalogers using the unified volume/copy editor (used by a majority of catalogers in the MassLNC networks). If there are any volume-level holds on that first call numbers, those holds will then automatically cancel. Read more »

Allow items with parts to be transferred to other bib records

Tags:

Evergreen has a bug that creates a messy situation when copies with parts are transferred to another bib record. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/904472.

We need to fix this bug to allow people to transfer part items from one bib record to another.

Improve Vandelay Performance

5

I would like to be able to load a larger number of records through Vandelay and also significantly increase the speed in which things load.   Central site staff are spending a lot of time loading records.

Allow Deletion of Copy Locations

9

Libraries need to be able to delete obsolete copy locations from the system.  Currently, copy locations cannot be deleted if they are associated with a copy, even if that copy itself is deleted.  This means that obsolete copy locations continue to display among the library's list of copy locations in the copy editor.  These defunct locations cause confusion and are sometimes selected inadvertently when new copies are added.
