Adult Catalog Search

We currently have the ability to search the entire catalog or to search the children's catalog; it would be useful to be able to search only adult items.  For example, when an adult wants a book about Thanksgiving, we have to wade through many pages of children's books before finding something meant for adults.  Having a adult catalog option would make searches must faster for situations where a children's book is not wanted.

Re: Adult Catalog Search

As far as I know this is a consortium setting based on how you have your copy locations set up. NOBLE has created search "scopes" for adult, children, or teen locations in each library, as well as systemwide (i.e. search all adult locations, for example). In addition, depending on how detailed each individual library's copy locations are, we have the ability to search by copy location(s), so for example in Wakefield I can search just adult fiction and new fiction, or just adult paperback and fiction, or whatever. But it would depend on how you have copy locations and copy location groups configured.

I agree! This could be done by copy location, just as it is for the children's items. That makes me think it might be a consortium level configuration type of thing. Kathy?
