Sort Magazines

Currently, magazines/serials are sorted alphanumerically in the catalog by library-entered call number - for popular titles, this can amount to hundreds of issues across a consortium categorized in a less-than-ideal way. Have Evergreen sort titles chronologically by YYYY-MM-DD according to the "Date Created", "Date Active", "Issuance Label", "Date Published", or "Date Expected" fields.

Re: Sort Magazines

At the very least, it would be nice to have Evergreen read volume numbers in the correct order when you get to double digits, so that vol.10 comes after vol. 9 instead before vol. 2.

Re: Sort Magazines

It would also be great if all copies of the same issue were grouped together by default. You could click to "expand" the issue and see individual holdings.

Re: Sort Magazines

Adding a note that there is a configurable display that sorts all of these elements correctly, but we've been reluctant to use it because it didn't allow us to display other elements. I think some of this has been fixed, so we may want to revisit this alternate display.

I believe the alternate display will sort correctly both by date and by volume numbers.

It will not affect sorting of the copies. If we decide to move to the alternate display, we may want to also consider moving the issues display up above the copy information for serials records.
