Allow patrons to sort their "My List" by owning library

1

I had a request from a patron who uses "My List" often. She would like to be able to sort by owning library so that when she goes to one library she can easily see what is available there at that time. If she goes to a different library the next day she could re-sort to see what is currently at that location.

Re: Allow patrons to sort their "My List" by owning library

I'm not sure how this sort would work since most items will have more than one owning library, but it sounds like your patron would benefit greatly from the ability to filter her lists by owning library.

Perhaps a "filter by" owning library rather than "sort by" owning library would work.

There actually is a way to do this now, although it may not be obvious.  At the top of the list page, there's a search box with a "Search only within this list" checkbox.  If you leave the box blanks, choose a library and hit enter, you get a view of the list filtered to that library.

I'd really like to have a search facet for libraries on every search results page, and that would be useful here, too, and probably easier to understand.

Yes, this is a great way to filter a public list, but I don't think there is a way to filter the list when you retrieve it on the My Lists page. It might be useful to have something there too.

I don't actually think it's a great way, I just think it's a better-than-nothing way!  But you're right, it only works on public lists.  If we had a facet for libraries, it would work even better, because it would only show you libraries that owned one of the items.

I think one of the problems with the lists that aren't public is that you can't actually access a list page, you can only open the list within the page where you manage all the lists, which I found very awkward, and it also means that if your list isn't private you don't have access to any of the facets.
