MassLNC Welcomes New Partners to Evergreen Development Initiative

The Massachusetts Library Network Cooperative (MassLNC) is pleased to welcome three new partners to its initiative to fund development in the Evergreen open-source Integrated Library System.

Bibliomation (Connecticut), BC Libraries Cooperative (Canada) and Howe Library (New Hampshire) are joining the new MassLNC Evergreen Development Initiative. The project is an opportunity for libraries and consortia running Evergreen to maximize their resources by pooling funds to sponsor exciting new features and important improvements for the open-source system.

The new partners are joining two Massachusetts consortia – Central / Western Massachusetts Automated Resource Sharing (C/W MARS) and North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE) – in this collaborative development project.

For the past six years, Massachusetts consortia running Evergreen have discovered that pooling their development funds has resulted in more and larger development projects than they would have been able to fund on their own. Their cooperative development efforts have led to projects like support for text notifications; a message center where patrons can easily access important notifications from the catalog (in partnership with Georgia Public Library Service); and an upcoming project to incorporate a popularity metric in the search results ranking algorithm (in partnership with Bibliomation).

The Initiative is an effort to extend this success to Evergreen sites outside of Massachusetts. More information about the Initiative is available at
