Greater control on the length of strings appearing on receipts

In the children's room, when a patron checks out a large stack of books, the receipt printer prints some of the titles, cuts the receipt, prints more titles, and cuts again. We followed the instructions that are posted about how to adjust the length of the printed receipt, but it didn' fix the problem. Thank you!

Re: Greater control on the length of strings appearing on ...

This sounds like this might be a problem with the receipt printer configuration rather than with Evergreen itself - perhaps it is set to 8 1/2 x 11 paper instead of to roll paper? We are using roll paper in our receipt printers and don't have problems with receipts cutting mid-receipt.

It is also possible to control the length of individual strings in the receipt template editor:

This will cut off a title after the first 13 characters:

%SUBSTR(0,13)%%title%%SUBSTR_END%<br/>

This will show only the last 4 characters of the barcode:

%SUBSTR(-4)%%PATRON_BARCODE%%SUBSTR_END%

Adding a note that the syntax for limiting string lengths changes in the web client. The new format is like this:

{{checkout.title | limitTo:10}}

Where the "10" is the number of characters you wnt to keep.

I'm moving this one to the attic since it is a configuration issue. If anyone is still having trouble with this record, I recommend reaching out to the help desk at your consortium office.
