Integrate Novelist Select readlikes into receipts

5

I know this has been brought up before, but I can't find it and don't know if this functionality already exists.  However, is it possible to include readlike suggestions from Novelist on checkout receipts?  We have Novelist Select suggestions already displaying in the catalog, and I learned at PLA that 3M can include these suggestions on self-check receipts, and we would love to be able to include them on all receipts.  Thanks.

Make email notifications customizable like receipts

13

I'm sure this is much harder than I think, but would it be possible to make all email notifications locally-customizable, like receipts are?  That way, libraries could easily customize the message sent out for hold notifications, return warnings, etc, instead of all libraries having to share the same template.

Make patron barcodes case insenstitive

21

Patrons whose barcode starts with  D  must enter a capital D now. This is because the Evergreen system requires the capital D and does not recognize the lower case letter. Therefore, the digital books website does the same, although it was not case-sensitive in the past.

Improve performance of records display for records with a large number of parts

5

Some serial records have a large number of parts and these records are very slow to load.   I know developers in the community have suggested using serials instead of parts for these records because their argument is that parts was designed for monographic parts.  However, it is not practical to train and support a large number of small libraries with limited staff to use serials just for this.

Alphabetical links for long holdings display

4

This issue is particularly important for serials like Consumer Reports (on C/W MARS) where there are many copies attached throughout the system.  It would be good to have a list of links so that you could jump forward to a library list like Southampton.

Change message that appears when "barred" patron tries to login

18

This situation occurs when library staff manually bars a patron from using library services. When a barred patron tries to log in, the patron receives a message saying that they used the wrong user name and password. This message needs to be changed to something else, preferably something that directs the patron to talk to library staff since a manual action from a staff member is the only thing that can remove the barred status.  Read more »

Allow lost items to fill holds for staff

6

Evergreen allows staff to override a Hold on Lost but the system will not capture the Lost item for the Hold.  Staff can currently manually override this restriction.  However, this development would allow the item to capture the Hold on a Lost item when it is a staff override and copy belongs to the library placing the Hold.

Use color codes to show fines and ready holds

6

It is easy to miss the fact that a patron owes any money. Can it be highlighted in another color even if it is under 10.00 (or whatever amt. requires it to turn red)? Instead of getting a message each time a patron has a hold to pick up, can the 1/2 under HOLDS be a different color? It would be nice not to have to click through that message with every other patron that comes in.)

Use amnesty mode within the patron's account.

14
Amnesty Mode: it would be great if we had the ability to use Amnesty mode from within a patron's account.  For example: an item is still on their account.  We look them up and see it is there.  We then search the shelves for the item, find it and want to clear it from their account.  At this point, it is our fault so we should clear the item and not assess a fine.  That means going to another link, setting up for amnesty and checking in the item.  From the patron's record, you can right click on the item and check it in, but it will not have amnesty.

The "Open Circulation on Requested Item" dialogue box is very vague.

The "Open Circulation on Requested Item" dialogue box is very vague.  For example, if an item is already checked out to someone or even  the same patron and it gets checked out or scanned twice, the open circulation box appears with the options to do either a normal checkin then checkout or a forgiving checkin then checkout.  It does not tell us why there was an open circulation on the item like it is already checked out to this patron or it was in repairs and someone found it or took it off another patron's pile, etc. Read more »

Show initial checkout date for checked out items not renewal dates

20

Our libraries found that when we or a patron renews an item, the renewal date overrides the original check-out date. They would rather have the original check-out date than a renewal date.

Allow Hold Suspension after Hold is Trapped

8

Currently staff and patrons can suspend and reactivate holds, which is convenient. However, once a hold has been trapped and fulfilled with a specific item, suspension is no longer allowed. Many patrons don't realize they might want to suspend something until after it's too late, and they already been contacted. Then they realize, "Oh drat, I don't have time to read/watch that. Resend Bills

A C/W MARS member library thinks it would be useful to have more patron billing options: A module to resend all bills not yet paid right click on a billed item in a patrons items out screen and have a "resend bill option"

Improving display of holds for other members of patron group

5

When we bring up all patrons in one linked group, it would be really handy to have a column called HOLDS READY or something with a number telling us how many holds are ready, or 1-3...so we could quickly see if any family members have holds to pick up. that is the way the children's dept. here uses linked patrons, to get all the holds for all the kids in the family at the same time. We tried the column   alert message   but it shows nothing. Would be so much easier and faster than having to go into each record...

Fines need better names

Fine names are not descriptive. The fine type  grocery   should be  manual fine   and it should be easier to tell the difference between overdues, bills, and other types of autogenerated fines from the current bills list.

Consistency of terms in the client

10
We would like to see the same terms used on the patron registration-information data sheet. The left area uses the terms   mailing address and   physical address   (in purple). When editing patron records where there is a PO box and a street address, the terms   mailing   and   billing   are used.

Autofill permission group and home library based on zip code and other information

18
When registering a patron or updating an expired card, there are two areas where staff commonly make mistakes: Main Permission Group and Home Library field. In the address field, typing in the Zip Code automatically fills in the town, county, state and country.

Couldn't we have something similiar for the Main Permission Group? When type in the patron's Date of Birth the Main Permission Group is automatically filled in? For Home Library, couldn't that also be based on the Zip Code?
