Add column time notified to the patron items out screen.

6

It would be great if there was a column called TIME NOTIFIED 2 day REMINDER and a column TIME NOTIFIED OVERDUE in the patron’s items out screen so we could tell on our end the date and time.

Horizontal patron display in web-based interface

13

Currently, the future web-based Evergreen software being planned for in 2 or 3 versions will not allow a horizontal patron display as we are currently using now.  Hence, all brief patron information will default to the left side, as was the original default when we first started using Evergreen.  It is important in a busy Circulation environment for staff to see all patron information as quickly as possible without scrolling.  Additionally, if the web-based design continues to use columns, there will be less room for them if the patron information is on the side.  I am a Read more »

Add "format" column in holds screen in staff client

Tags:

This feels like it's something that's already available and I just haven't found it - but really, I've looked.

Patrons will call in and ask us to check their accounts to see what they have on hold, and what number in line they are.  Almost every time I'll read off the title and number, and the patron will ask, "now, is that the audiobook?"  or "is that hold for the large print edition?" Read more »

Add right-click menu to item barcode in holdings area in staff client

4

I know the staff client is changing, but here is something I think would be very helpful.  Currently when you click into an item in the catalog, and view the item holdings, the barcode is a clickable link to the Item Status screen. Read more »

Better tabs in the OPAC

Tags:

The search options (basic, advanced, numeric, etc.) should be presented in a single line of tabs that follow normal user interfaces practices (i.e., the same tabs would show on every search page, in the same place each time, with the selected tab highlighted).

When Aborting a Transit, items should not automatically get "Reshelving" status.

18

When a staff user aborts a transit on an item, the item always gets the status "Reshelving" regardless of the staff user's branch.

Use case:

An item belonging to "Adams Branch" is in transit to fill a hold at "Baker Branch". The Baker Branch patron no longer wants the item, and a staff user at Baker Branch cancels the hold and chooses to abort the transit when prompted, the item appears to now be on the shelf at Adams Branch, and can appear on Adams Branch's pull list if there are additional holds.

Improve Acquisitions Search

BLANK VALUES -- Ability to Search in acquisitions general search for "null" or blank values.

Use Case:  Springfield staff member forgot to add the date and initials to Payment Auth in several invoices over a prolonged time frame.  Right now, Evergreen will not allow a search using the criteria "I-Payment Auth IS blank" to find those invoices that need correcting.

Integrate Novelist Select readlikes into receipts

4

I know this has been brought up before, but I can't find it and don't know if this functionality already exists.  However, is it possible to include readlike suggestions from Novelist on checkout receipts?  We have Novelist Select suggestions already displaying in the catalog, and I learned at PLA that 3M can include these suggestions on self-check receipts, and we would love to be able to include them on all receipts.  Thanks.

Make email notifications customizable like receipts

8

I'm sure this is much harder than I think, but would it be possible to make all email notifications locally-customizable, like receipts are?  That way, libraries could easily customize the message sent out for hold notifications, return warnings, etc, instead of all libraries having to share the same template.

Ability to search for patrons by name or barcode from the catalog when placing holds in the client

23

When you look up a title in the client, and go to place a hold, you have to know the patrons barcode and cannot do anything witht he a patron name.  Our libraries would like the ability to be able to look up the barcode from the same screen but more importantly look up the patrons name without opening another tab.

Make patron barcodes case insenstitive

17

Patrons whose barcode starts with  D  must enter a capital D now. This is because the Evergreen system requires the capital D and does not recognize the lower case letter. Therefore, the digital books website does the same, although it was not case-sensitive in the past.

Improve performance of records display for records with a large number of parts

4

Some serial records have a large number of parts and these records are very slow to load.   I know developers in the community have suggested using serials instead of parts for these records because their argument is that parts was designed for monographic parts.  However, it is not practical to train and support a large number of small libraries with limited staff to use serials just for this.

Alphabetical links for long holdings display

1

This issue is particularly important for serials like Consumer Reports (on C/W MARS) where there are many copies attached throughout the system.  It would be good to have a list of links so that you could jump forward to a library list like Southampton.

Change message that appears when "barred" patron tries to login

15

This situation occurs when library staff manually bars a patron from using library services. When a barred patron tries to log in, the patron receives a message saying that they used the wrong user name and password. This message needs to be changed to something else, preferably something that directs the patron to talk to library staff since a manual action from a staff member is the only thing that can remove the barred status.  Read more »

Pop up calendar for reactivating a hold

4

I like that staff have a pop up calendar to tell eg when to reactivate a hold. Will the patron be able to do this? (it would have to be made clear that this is the date the system will begin searching for the item, not the date the item will come in for the patron.)

Allow lost items to fill holds for staff

5

Evergreen allows staff to override a Hold on Lost but the system will not capture the Lost item for the Hold.  Staff can currently manually override this restriction.  However, this development would allow the item to capture the Hold on a Lost item when it is a staff override and copy belongs to the library placing the Hold.

Use color codes to show fines and ready holds

5

It is easy to miss the fact that a patron owes any money. Can it be highlighted in another color even if it is under 10.00 (or whatever amt. requires it to turn red)? Instead of getting a message each time a patron has a hold to pick up, can the 1/2 under HOLDS be a different color? It would be nice not to have to click through that message with every other patron that comes in.)
