More Flexible/Customizable Format Filters

Currently in Evergreen, format filters sort alphabetically.  

Our libraries would like a way to group filters by type, perhaps with indented sub categories.  To have all the books falls together we have to name them all starting with  "Book..."  For example Book (all), Book (Braille), Book (large print), Book (regular print)..  For ebooks to fall with the books they have to be named "Book (electronic)" .  Some libraries may want to group the formats by physical items and electronic items. Pre-Cats: Add another field to store call number

The pre-cat function currently has a field for ISBN, but that's not particularly useful for PINES libraries and our staff are instructed to put the item call number (assuming it exists) into that field.

We'd like to add a Call Number input field there to store it. One problem to watch out for is that the current functionality may be storing "UNCATALOGED" in the call number field.

Patron Self-Registration: Improve pending registration findability

Currently, you have to know which location the patron selected when they filled out the patron self-registration form. If the patron chose the wrong location, there is not an easy way to find the pending application.

We would like to be able to display all pending applications for a system, or all pending applications for the consortium.

It would also be nice to be able to search for a pending application.

New Setting: Require Parent/Guardian Field

We would like to be able to require the parent/guardian field to be filled in if a new patron is a juvenile (presumably, this would have to be a setting, since not all Evergreen libraries may want this functionality).

Patron Self-Registration: Zip Code Population

It would be useful for the patron to be able to enter the zip code and have it populate the city/state (would need to be editable, since zip codes sometimes cross borders).

Library Info Pages: Display Children

The library info pages (for example, https://gapines.org/eg/opac/library/ROCK) currently link to parent relationships, but not to children relationships.

When viewing a system-level page, it would be helpful to include links to each of the branches for that system.

Library Info Pages: Display Upcoming Closed Dates

Add upcoming closed dates to the library info pages that are visible in the OPAC - they currently show default hours, but not closures.

Patrons in collections - improve display

Modify the display to make it more obvious when a patron is in collections.

We have policies related to patrons that are in collections (for instance, the patron must be referred to the library that sent them to collections to resolve their bill and clear their account) but the interface doesn't make it obvious that the patron is in collections so staff sometimes overlook the fact and don't follow the proper procedure.

Citations

Our libraries, especially the academics would like a cite option under tools.  Ideally it would give a basic citation in MLA and APA format that they could cut and paste into another tool or citation manager.  

I don't see a separate idea relating specifically to citations so I am adding it here.

Enter ISBN into ISBN field in Item Status

In item status, we would like to add our own ISBN to the ISBN box provided so that our items would be accurate. When we are replacing items or patrons are paying for them, this enhancement  would be very helpful in distinguishing the correct copy (hardcover or paperback) for replacement or payment.

Ability to sort within the P.O.

The ability to sort within the PO level of acquisitions. The Selection List level is already in alpha order, which is great. But it would be helpful (especially when some orders get to 80-90 items) to have either the same alpha sort as in the Selection List or the ability to sort ourselves as needed

Patron Search default field - customizable

Right now, when the “Patron Search” option is selected, the cursor defaults to the “Last Name” box. However, more often than not, the search is being performed using the patron’s library card and the bar code needs to be scanned in. Read more »

Easier Way to get to View Holds

Currently to find out where a patron falls in a list of requests for the same item, staff is restricted to first switching to “Show in Catalog”.  It would be an enhancement if staff could access this information whenever, and wherever, they are viewing the title of the item in question.  Particularly when in the “Hold” tab of the patron’s record. Closed Dates apply for same day in fine calculation

It would be very helpful if the closed dates editor could allow for same day closings to be automatically be fine-free.  Closing on short notice because of bad weather or any type of emergency would then not penalize our patrons.

Articles ignored in sorting

When sorting by title, "A", "An", and "The" are used when they are the first word, which is NOT helpful when trying to locate a title (reports, item status, patron record - holds and items checked out, and there may be other places). Read more »

My List under Staff Login

I'd like to see a list creation from capability from the staff login application to Evergreen.  At present, I have to login as a patron to create a list, for instance, for our book display.  It would be better to have that capability while logged into our staff access screens. Read more »

My Library First in Library OPAC List (Global Catalog)

We spend a lot of time toggling between Bibliomation global catalog and scrolling down to search in our catalog only. We would like an option of our library on top, followed by Bibliomation, followed by the rest of the list in the drop-down menu.
