Alert Message or Note Display on Hold Slip

The library would like a way to put an alert message on the hold slip (item going to holds shelf) alerting staff to special requests made by the patron, for example Don't leave phone message with husband. There does not appear to be a field for this display on the slip. This is an alert to display on all Holds placed for a specific patron and therefore the Hold Note is not a good option for this need.

keep limited holds history for when patrons claim not to have an item belonging to another library

I know this probably breaks with confidentiality etiquette, but it would be helpful to keep a little bit of holds history on bib records that we could access.

MARC Batch Edit

Millennium had a feature called rapid update for bibliographic records which allowed a cataloger to put a group of MARC records into a file and add, delete or edit a MARC field using terms and an interface friendly to catalogers (not regular expressions).

With th existing feature, MARC Batch Edit, you have to replace the entire field not just a substring.  For instance, we want ot replace URI in the 856 and strip out the EZ-Proxy prefix.

Sort Magazines

Currently, magazines/serials are sorted alphanumerically in the catalog by library-entered call number - for popular titles, this can amount to hundreds of issues across a consortium categorized in a less-than-ideal way. Have Evergreen sort titles chronologically by YYYY-MM-DD according to the "Date Created", "Date Active", "Issuance Label", "Date Published", or "Date Expected" fields.

Provide a way for hold notifications to be updated when patron information is updated

The hold notification options for phone, email, and SMS (if enabled) are stored in each individual hold. When a patron's record or hold notification preferences are updated, notifications stored in existing holds are not changed. Consequently, some holds may be storing invalid notification data.

It would be useful to have a mechanism to warn the user or staff member that holds exist and may need updating, or to have a process to selectively update the holds automatically.

Claims Returned Receipt

When an item is marked Claims Returned, it would be helpful to be able to trigger a configurable receipt (presumably through the Action Trigger Notifications interface) that we could give to the patron that explains our policy.

Automatically generate date call numbers from existing serials data

The Serials module understands publication date and publication frequency. It would be nice if that data could be used to auto-generate a call number rather than us users having to fill it in manually every time.  If a magazine is issued weekly, auto-fill February 2, 2017, etc.  If monthly, February 2017.  And so on.

The date format could be set by using receipt template style codes.

Circulation - Text Messaging Set Up Indicator for Holds

As an e-mail address is already indicated at the patron account masthead, I would like to suggest that a simple indicator be placed in the same location indicating a patron has decided to be notified of waiting holds and due date reminders via text messaging. It would help reassure staff that patrons are receiving their notices and patrons that there getting notices before items are late or items are returned to the owning libraries.

Make incorrect spellings & obsolete dates delete-able

When adding a new issue in Serials Batch Receive, previously entered incorrect spellings are available in the Call Number field drop-down menu (such as "Galmour" for Glamour). Also incorrectly entered dates and way obsolete dates are still available in the the date drop-down menu in Holdings Maintenance. It is time consuming and frustrating to have to scroll through information you're never going to use every time you add a new magazine.

Inventory Module

We have workarounds using reports to do inventory processes, but it would be nice to have a fully fleshed out inventory module (this is one of the areas where many other ILSes have an advantage over Evergreen).

Web Client - improvements for mobile devices

One of the benefits of moving to a web client will be making the client more mobile, but opening it on a small screen at this point doesn't resolve nicely because of how much content there is and how it is laid out.

Making the interface work nicely on a small tablet or smart phone is a desirable long-term goal.

Another request is to take advantage of a mobile device's camera to allow the device to scan barcodes into the web client. This woiuld remove the necessity of attaching a third party barcode scanner or typing in the barcode manually.

Allow user to actually cancel Receive/Move Selected operation midway through.

If you accidentally pick the wrong issuance to receive, there is no way to stop the process.  The Cancel buttons on the barcode and call number pop-ups don't actually cancel anything, they just force the issuance through with default-generated values.  Then you have to set that issuance back to expected and start over.  This is a tedious process.

Checkbox for Library Specific Messages

We have an option on our registration cards that allows Patron A to give permission for other patrons to pick up their holds (without Patron A's card). This can be added via the alert field or by adding an alert via Messages, and the wording is inconsistant depending on who registers the patron. I would love a checkbox on the register patron tab that would just produce this alert - could either be set state-wide for one setting or else be library-specific (set by the circ manager or something) depending on whether libraries ask every patron a specific question.

Show closed dates in date picker

The date picker (showed when editing the shelf expire time, due dates, etc.) should show dates on which the library is closed by, for example dimming these dates or showing them in a different form of the typeface (perhaps italics). Mouseover text should also indicate that the library is closed on that date.

This will help avoid errors in which staff mistakenly extend a due date or shelf expiration date onto a holiday.

Create an Address "Invalidate" Button

The buttons that allow us quickly mark an email address or phone number as "Invalid" are really useful. A similar button to show that an address was invalid would save a huge amount of time and would help cut down on the number of Alert Messages. I type individual Alerts about updating mailing addresses for patrons at least 3 times a day, and sometimes many more!

Allow patrons to sort their "My List" by owning library

I had a request from a patron who uses "My List" often. She would like to be able to sort by owning library so that when she goes to one library she can easily see what is available there at that time. If she goes to a different library the next day she could re-sort to see what is currently at that location.

Integrate Syrup course reserves into Evergreen

Integrate course reserves into Evergreen so that the course reserves system is directly retrieving users and copies from the Evergreen database rather than creating its own. Interfaces will also need to be rebuilt in AngularJS. We've been building work-in-progress requirements at http://masslnc.org/node/3181.

Patron record loading

Add a staff client interface to allow for batch loading of patron records. A set of requirements at https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=evergreen_for_academics:batch_patron_functions can be used as a starting point.

Although Evergreen sites can currently load patron records in batch using scripts, the addition of a staff client interface will enable individual libraries to load these records whenever they have a new file that's ready to load.

Improvements to batch import of bib records

This idea is to implement a queued ingest for the purposes of implementing improvements for batch importing bibliographic records. Currently, staff need to limit the number of records they can import at one time. Importing too large of a batch can cause timeouts or can cause slowdowns for all users because of the high load that occurs when records are being ingested. Read more »

Improved Printing Options in Staff Client

An example improvment would be ability to configure label templates to diverse outputs, e.g. sheets of labels or rolls or labels, directly in the staff client, without having to fiddle with forms or converters outside of Evergreen.
